Pineapple-coconut spirulina cooler

Tropical, almost piña-colada. The simplest sell to a sceptical family member.

Yields
1 tall glass
Time
5 minutes
Spirulina
1.5 g

Ingredients

  • 150 g frozen pineapple
  • 100 ml coconut water
  • 60 ml full-fat coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon spirulina powder
  • A few mint leaves (optional)
  • Squeeze of lime

Method

  1. Blend everything except the mint until smooth.
  2. Add the mint and pulse 2–3 times — you want flecks, not a purée.
  3. Pour over a few ice cubes if you want it longer.

Why this pairing works

Pineapple's bromelain breaks down some of the protein in spirulina, which sounds dramatic but actually makes the smoothie sit lighter on the stomach if you're new to algae. Coconut fat slows absorption, which evens out energy.
