Earthrise Nutritionals

Earthrise grows spirulina in the hot, dry desert of California's Imperial Valley, a few hundred kilometres east of Los Angeles. The facility has operated continuously since the early 1980s and supplies bulk spirulina to many third-party brands under private-label agreements — meaning you may have already consumed Earthrise spirulina without knowing it. Their own consumer brand is reliable mid-market.

Strengths

  • One of the oldest spirulina operations in the Americas — production records going back decades
  • Large, stable facility with consistent quality; a major bulk supplier used by other well-known brands
  • Competitive pricing versus other US-grown spirulina
  • Good manufacturing practices (GMP) certified; third-party tested

Weaknesses

  • Inland desert location means water quality differs from coastal Hawaii — requires diligent mineral management
  • Consumer packaging and marketing is relatively minimal compared to premium competitors
  • Phycocyanin percentage is not prominently disclosed in retail product labelling

Our verdict

A solid, honest mid-market choice from a producer with deep roots in American spirulina. Worth buying direct; also useful to know as the source behind many private-label products. If a US-grown provenance matters to you but Cyanotech pricing is out of reach, Earthrise is the answer.
